Do I need a CGM to use Glynce?
Updated June 18, 2026
You do not strictly need a CGM, but Glynce is at its best with one. A continuous glucose monitor gives Glynce a steady stream of readings, which is what trends, time in range, and averages are built from.
Without a CGM
You can add readings by hand from a finger stick or meter. See Adding glucose readings manually. Your dashboard still works, and Glynce connects your points on the graph.
Why a continuous stream helps
- Trends and averages need enough data points to be reliable.
- Time in range only means something when readings arrive across the whole day.
- Patterns after meals or overnight are only visible with frequent readings.
Manual readings never go stale in the app, because you entered them on purpose. That is different from a CGM value, which Glynce will drop to "--" once it is too old to trust.
